Australian Federal Police deputy commissioner Ian McCartney says the law enforcement agency will soon cease using DJI drones manufactured in China following warnings about cyber security concerns.
The revelation followed questions during senate estimates form opposition home affairs spokesman James Paterson, who has been vocal about the security concerns associated with using the drones, which have been blacklisted in the US.
Deputy commissioner McCartney said the AFP was "transitioning" away from using the drones and "any risks in relation to these issues have been fully mitigated through the AFP."
It comes after Home Affairs chief operating officer Justine Saunders confirmed the Australian Border Force had stopped using the drones in senate estimates on Monday.
